This was during contempt of court proceedings with regard to the Tihar Jail authorities' failure to ensure adequate medical attention for a detainee under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA), Richard Semre. Bedi's career, from its outset, has been characterised by controversy and by her ability to compel attention.
